Most planning applications for conversion or creation of units these days require a sound report.
Commercial applications that are located near residential properties require through sound testing. This is to ensure that local residents are not affected by an approved application.
Building regulations will require that sound testing is carried out to ensure sound insulation is between rooms / units.
Sound testing is carried out using equipment, the data from this equipment is analysed and a acoustive sound report is prepared.
DAP Group has yet to purchase sound testing equipment and hire acoustic specialists so usually we work with a sub-contractor to procure these reports.
We vary sub-contractor depending on the complexity of a project.
Usually sound testing equipment is installed and left in place to record sound transfer, traffic, noise hazards, movement, etc. The equipment is secured to a fixed structure or hidden in a lolled box.
