What is sound testing report?

  • Most planning applications for conversion or creation of units these days require a sound report.
  • Commercial applications that are located near residential properties require through sound testing. This is to ensure that local residents are not affected by an approved application.
  • Building regulations will require that sound testing is carried out to ensure sound insulation is between rooms / units.
  • Sound testing is carried out using equipment, the data from this equipment is analysed and a acoustive sound report is prepared.

Who prepares sound testing report?

  • DAP Group has yet to purchase sound testing equipment and hire acoustic specialists so usually we work with a sub-contractor to procure these reports.
  • We vary sub-contractor depending on the complexity of a project.
  • Usually sound testing equipment is installed and left in place to record sound transfer, traffic, noise hazards, movement, etc. The equipment is secured to a fixed structure or hidden in a lolled box.
